I was interviewed by Michael Curtis from Goodman Games on his Maw of Mike show to discuss the Critical Hit Parader zine. Mike is a fellow Blue Öyster Cult fanatic, and I had a blast talking music and RPGs with him. Click to view a replay of the interview.
During the interview I suggested that Michael Moorcock is one of the patron saints of Critical Hit Parader. He is a genuine Appendix N author who has collaborated with Blue Öyster Cult and Hawkwind, while also leading his own Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix music project.
The Goodman Games website published an article that serves as a good overview of the music of Michael Moorcock. This article contains a minor error, however, in stating that Michael Moorcock performed with Blue Öyster Cult at the first Dragon Con in 1987. In reality, he was invited on stage by BÖC singer Eric Bloom to help perform a couple of songs with a local band. Eric was a guest of the convention, but the rest of the band was not there. Wikipedia has the same mistake.
Here is a scan I made from the defunct Blue Öyster Cult fan club zine Morning Final with a fan’s report of the event:
For further Moorcock fun, I highly recommend the interview with Michael Moorcock that the Sanctum Secorum recorded a few months ago.
Crowdfunding Update
The kickstarter for the first issue of Critical Hit Parader is now fully funded! I am very thankful to everyone who pledged and/or shared a link to the kickstarter page for the the zine. There are two more weeks before the campaigns ends and the zine goes to the printer. Lastly, I’m very thankful for this quote from noted RPG designer Julian Bernick about the adventure included in the zine:
