Matt Thompson is the creator of the zine Critical Hit Parader: America’s Only Rock ‘n’ Role Playing Magazine. The zine provides tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) content in the spirit of vintage rock magazines like Creem, Circus, and Hit Parader. His companion Critical Hit Parader newsletter covers the intersection of rock music and TTRPGs. Matt is the host of the Appendix LP podcast in which he interviews game designers about the music that inspires their game play and design. He is also a regular panelist on The Contrarians Youtube music channel. He was a contributor to the book Dominance and Submission: The Blue Öyster Cult Canon by Martin Popoff.

A guitarist and songwriter, Matt creates music under the name The MT Promise. His upcoming album is called The MT Promise Are the Prescott Subdivision Moms Club Widowers.
