Very cool. I didn't get to see them until Sonic Temple tour, when they opened for Metallica, so at least I got to see them before Jamie Stewart left. They were bad for that show (which I think I mentioned to you), but so much better when I saw them tour for their self-titled album (the one with the ram on the cover). I've seen them a few times since, and it's always been good!
Yes, I remember you telling me about that, Gregg. It sounded like you had a worse Sonic Temple performance than the show I caught (opening for Metallica at the Boston Garden). Overall, the Cult performances I have seen over the years have run the gamut from transcendent to disinterested.
This Substack HEAVEN SENT for me. I think this record is GH's best to date. It's very, very good.
Thanks, Ricardo! Yes, I love the vocal arrangements/performance, the guitar tones, and song variety throughout Dreaming City.
"Zap City"...good stuff! All of the Manor Sessions (Peace) stuff is quality listening.
You know it, Gregg! When I saw them on the Love tour, they played early versions of Love Removal Machine and Electric Ocean.
