Dude, wild pull with the Marvel RPG shot. Blast from the past!

When I first read your post title, I thought for a second you might be talking about the French indie pop band Phoenix, but then I thought, "that doesn't sound like Matt," haha.

I remember using those Marvel RPG handbooks to objectively settle arguments about which superheroes were stronger!

I didn't think I knew the band Phoenix so I just listened to their Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album. I was surprised to discover I actually knew the song "1901" but didn't realize that was the song title. Pas mal du tout!

A couple of weeks ago I picked up Dan Fogelberg's 'Phoenix' vinyl LP, which has a song on it titled 'Phoenix' as well. The song from that album that every one knows is 'Longer', noted for harp and flugelhorn inclusion, which I imagine there is not too much of on the Grand Funk and Rossington Collins LPs!

I thought about writing about Phoenix songs for this newsletter. I wasn't aware of the Fogelberg song, but I love "Phoenix" by the Cult and "Phoenix" by Wishbone Ash. My kids suggested "The Phoenix" by Fall Out Boy. And you are right about Gary Rossington's famous distaste for flugelhorn, which of course led to the formation of the Allen Collins Band in 1983.
