Regarding Roky Erickson, “Night of the Vampire” is the standout choice. But there’s also “If You Have Ghosts” (In the night I am real… The moon to the left of me is part of my thoughts; is a part of me; is me… I don’t want want my fangs too long), “I Have Always Been Here Before”, “I Think of Demons”, “Click Your Fingers”, “The Damn Thing”, and “Mine Mine Mind” (The door opens but nothing physical opens wide / And you it isn’t Christ / I, the devil child’s mind / Flash their dagger-like teeth in wine).

I’m sure he has more that would be appropriate.

Great stuff! I first heard "If You Have Ghosts" via the John Wesley Harding cover in 1990 before I got fully turned on to Roky.

Master of Reality?!

My absolute favorite Sabbath album. Outside of Sweet Leaf, which I find to be meh, it's an amazing LP. It's one of those, "How did you ever think this band were Satan worshippers?" albums. Did they not listen to the lyrics?

Of course, the didn't, just like they didn't read D&D rulebooks.

In the John Darnielle book, the main character similarly sees "Sweet Leaf" as an outlier on the album. He also singles out "After Forever" as his "ace in the hole" to challenge the assumptions of those who never actually listened to the music and shock them by revealing Ozzy is singing about God and Jesus.

In 1999, White Wolf and Dancing Ferret Discs released an official various artists soundtrack to “Vampire: The Masquerade.” While it didn’t feature any of the big name goth bands (no Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Christian Death, etc), it did feature all the hot up-and-coming goth / darkwave / synth pop bands of the day (The Cruxshadows, Bella Morte, Seraphim Shock, etc) It’s a great disc, worth picking up if you can find a copy that won’t break the bank.
